The developer of this Distribution Center will not be the end tenant or user of the building. The developer isn’t even the property owner. The developer has a long-term land lease on this property. The developer will build this distribution center, then they will assign their land lease to someone else, who wants to occupy the building. We have no clue who that someone else will be. So in essence, this is a speculative construction project, with no known user at this time. With the size of the building, it will very likely have to be open 24/7, especially to spread out the intense semi truck traffic. The truck drivers will likely be 1099 subcontractors who will very likely, not be Upland residents. Also very likely, this project will bring in scant sales tax revenue to our city because the point of sale for what will ship out from the Upland Distribution Center, will likely be from somewhere else like a place with a lower sales tax rate. So right now, we know nothing but a developer is trying to build a highly speculative distribution center here on the corner of Benson and Foothill and is either hiding who their end user will be from us, or they are lying to us, or they really has “no clue” who would want to take over their long-term land lease and their massive distribution center from them, once they spend millions of dollars to built it. The location for this “proposed” MASSIVE DISTRIBUTION CENTER will be the 51.33 acres West of Benson, North of Foothill and incorporates 13th St and will be next door to Lowes. The location of this property on the corner of Foothill and Benson is on the borderline of Districts 1 & 3. This means semi truck traffic will disproportionally affect residents living in Districts 1 & 3, as 18-wheelers from this site access the 10 & 210 Freeways. Here is a link to the video from the 1st workshop meeting in June, so Upland residents can see what they’re going up against. Thank You.
It was an amazing display of public muscle and might, as residents from every political party, raced home from work and beat rush hour traffic, to get to Upland City Hall by 6PM to lay into City Attorney James Markman. Everyone of those residents made incredible points about the multiple legal nightmares our city attorney has allowed to happen in Upland since he become our city attorney two short years ago. Even Markman in a desperate act to save himself, blamed our former city council for his actions! If that wasn’t spicy enough, that was followed by an agenda item where our city employees were finally up to get a raise after nearly 12 years without a cost of living increase, where Mayor Stone went bonkers and showed how much disdain she actually has for UPD. She could win an award for being the most unprofessional head of any city council, in America, bar none. She is an outrage and a public embarrassment every time she opens her mouth. Mayor Stone’s egregious conduct started 20 minutes into the meeting when she violated the (ADA) American Disability Act, by telling a resident with a speech disability that she would no longer allow another resident to read her public statements for her to our council, as the city would then have to allow anyone else to do that.” Later on in the meeting, Stone and Ricky Felix went head-to-head which was followed by Stone next trying to cut off the head of Upland’s Police Officers Management Association, twice during his public comments. All of that and more, is inside this smoking hot edition of The Upland Report!

The upcoming Upland City Council Meeting Agenda for Monday, October 14th, is stuffed with so many bombshells, it is like an Upland earthquake. The main event is City Attorney James Markman, may finally be getting the boot by our new city council members, after testing him out for the past 11 months. I will be making the case for his immediate termination in this Upland Report. In addition to that, our council will be discussing and getting briefed on multiple lawsuits filed by UPD’s Former Highest Ranking Police Captain Anthony Yoakum, plus, UPD’s Former Senior Sergeant Marc Simpson. I hope our new council can settle this travesty, after what our former city council allowed to happen to these heroes, as it was truly one of the most shameful periods in Upland’s recent history. Last but never least, will Upland’s employees finally be getting a contract, a cost of living increase and some long overdue respect, after nearly 12 years without JACK-SQUAT? Tune in Monday on night and watch what happens live at Upland City Hall, HERE!

The council meeting on August 12th, was the best thing since sliced bread! This new council has courage and guts in spades! Let me rephrase that, at least four of them do and I do not envy any of them! This meeting was hard work with some friendships on the line, legacy appointments being tested and examined and oh so much more. At the heart of this meeting were two very important issues for our city. The 1st, who will be running our animal shelter and the 2nd, who will be on our planning commission. So much was at stake for so many and the drama was palpable. The tension at times, you could cut with a knife. It was the best of times and the worst of times, all at the same time. Tears were shed by some and then moments later, others received standing ovation. All in all, we got to see exactly what this new city council is made of and who, is willing to put their money where their mouth is. It was a night that will be hard to forget and I think the witnesses, will remember it forever.

As we approach the next Upland City Council Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 28th, which starts at 7:00 PM at 406 N Euclid Ave in Downtown, Upland, there is so much you need to know. If you have any interest in keeping 5G cellphone antennas from being installed on every street light in your neighborhood and only 20 feet from your bedroom windows, please keep reading. In fact, reading may no longer be good enough because at this next Upland City Council Meeting on 5/28, if the residents of Upland don’t show up and demand that our Upland City Council Members protect us, then our unscrupulous city attorney is going to talk them into signing a new law that gives away every single bit of power they have and that we have, to protect ourselves and our private property rights. Also in this report, if you think millionaires should NOT be awarded free HUD Grant Money by the City of Upland, which is earmarked for slum elimination in Downtown Upland, which is used to renovate properties for FREE, then keep reading. As the NEW Upland City Council just agreed with you and did some truly amazing things about it. The fact is, 70% of all HUD Grant Money that Upland receives is earmarked to assist low income individuals, as well as, earmarked to create job opportunities, for low income individuals. On March 26, 2018, our insane former city council voted three to one, to sell 4.63 acres of Memorial Park to San Antonio Hospital for $4,200,000.00. Those voting in favor were Mayor Debbie Stone, Mayor Pro Tem Carol Timm and Councilmen Gino Filippi. Opposing the sale was Councilmember Janice Elliott. Councilmen Sid Robinson was on vacation and did NOT vote but he also supported the sale of 12% of Memorial Park. Since then on November 6th, 2018, both Carol Timm and Gino Filippi lost their re-election bids and were replaced on city council by Rudy Zuniga and Ricky Felix. Sid Robinson had been appointed to city council after Janice Elliott beat him in the 2016 election. Sid had a two year appointment which expired at the end of 2018 and he did NOT run for city council in 2018. So Sid walked off the dais on December 10th, 2018, along with Carol Timm and Gino Filippi but NOT before, crowning Jeanette Vagnozzi’s as Upland’s next failed City Manager! Will This Lead To Upland & The Hospital Terminating Their Existing Purchase Agreement?”
Our City Manager Jeannette Vagnozzi has failed to protect and inform the public! Vagnozzi has failed to protect Upland’s private and public property rights. Vagnozzi has failed to protect Upland home-owners. Vagnozzi has failed to protect Upland tax-payers! Vagnozzi has failed to protect Upland’s right-of-ways! Vanozzi failed to inform our city council members and our planning commissioners, that all 5G light-pole and utility-pole cellphone antenna permitting, is being done through our Public Works Department, ONLY! THAT MEANS NO PUBLIC HEARINGS! NO PUBLIC NOTIFICATION! NO DUE PROCESS! NO PLANNING BOARD APPROVAL! NO REQUIRED ZONING SET-BACKS! NO CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT! NO TRANSPARENCY AND ALLOWS CELLPHONE ANTENNAS TO BE INSTALLED 25 FEET AWAY FROM RESIDENTIAL HOMES, IN EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD IN UPLAND! Why is she still gainfully employed here making $311,000 in total annual compensation from Upland’s tax-payers, so she can go home and spend it in La Verne! Hopefully her employment is about to come to a screeching halt on or around April 29th, 2019! Please SIGN OUR PETITION to demand our city council adopt an urgency ordinance to STOP the current 5G permitting practice.
